Building leadership capacity across the DiSSCo consortium is essential for the successful development of DiSSCo. The Executive Masters in Management of Research Infrastructures (EMMRI) at the University of Milano-Bicocca is an opportunity to start building this capacity. Thanks to funding received by NLBIF, DiSSCo is able to participate as a Team to the 12 modules included in the Executive Masters programme for 2018-2020.

On Tuesday 11 September the new 2018 ESFRI roadmap was formally presented in Vienna, Austria.
DiSSCo has formally entered the European roadmap. European natural science collections are now, for the first time at European level, recognised as a priority Research Infrastructure for the European Research Area. This constitutes a step-change in the way natural science collections will continue develop and operate.

At the end of 2019 we bring you Biodiversity_next, a joint international conference on digital science for biological and geological information. The event will be hosted by Naturalis Biodiversity Center and will take place between 21-25 October 2019 in Leiden, Netherlands.This week will be an amazing opportunity to bring together scientists, e-infrastructure operators, data managers and science policy makers. Additionally the annual meetings of four influential initiatives: TDWG, GBIF, CETAF & DiSSCo will be held at this event.

We have had amazing news! On Friday the 29th of June 2018 the news that DiSSCo has been officially accepted on the ESFRI roadmap came through. After almost three years of hard work across the continent, European Natural Science Collections are now recognised as a priority research infrastructure, supporting scientific excellence and innovation towards urgent societal challenges. This decision highlights how the DiSSCo vision, to bring together European natural science collections into one coherent virtual institution, is highly relevant and urgent for the European Research Area.
