eLTER (Long-Term Ecosystem Research) is an integrated European long-term ecosystem Research Infrastructure. Through research and long-term observation of representative sites around the globe, it enhances our understanding of the structure and functions of ecosystems, which provide essential services to people. It also contributes to the knowledge base informing policy and to the development of management options in response to the Grand Challenges under Global Change.
DiSSCo provides a unified access to bio- and geodiversity data contained in natural sciences collections, and to the knowledge and expertise related to collections data while eLTER puts biodiversity data into context aiming at the detection of impacts across ecosystem compartments. Thus, it is clear that both infrastructures are complementary in servicing the environmental domain and beyond.
