MOBILISE fourth blended Training School: Applications now open!

Registration has opened for MOBILISE’s fourth blended Training School (TS“Next step in the digitization process of Natural History collections: Publishing of biological, geological, palaeontological & mineralogical data”

CETAF- DEST https://cetaf.org/explore/dest-distributed-school-of-european-taxonomy/, and DISSCo https://www.dissco.eu, organises its fourth Training School (TS) on the publishing of biological, geological, palaeontological & mineralogical data.

This hands-on and interactive training initiative will give the opportunity to students & professionals of Natural History Institutions to get informed and exercised on the publishing of their collections’ data sets.

Dates of Implementation:The Training School will be a blended one: it’s online part, addressing all theoretical issues, will be the 20th of January 2023 (via zoom) while it’s face to face part, which is going to be an interactive hands-on experience, will be held in Brussels (the exact location to be fixed), Belgium, the 6th until the 7th (noon) of February 2023.

Deadline for applications: 15th December 2022Applicants need to register in the link https://form.jotform.com/223062673434352 and upload, in the same link, a short CV of one page and an extract of the dataset they would like to publish online accompanied with a short description of it.

The Training School will address the following theoretical topics during its online session:

· The Biodiversity Data Standards
· The Global Biodiversity Information Facility (GBIF) profile
· The IPT (INTEGRATED PUBLISHING TOOLKIT)
· The types of Data Sets convenient for publication in GBIF
· The GeoCASe platform
· The ABCDEFG STANDARTS which give access to Biological Collection Databases extended for Geosciences
· The types of Data Sets convenient for publication in GeoCase

The face to face part of the TS will be a hands-on experience, since, according to its schedule, all of its time is dedicated to exercises on the above theoretical topics while group work will ensure and motivate interaction between trainees and trainers and foster lively discussions. Moreover, trainees will have the possibility to bring sample(s) of their institutional biodiversity and geodiversity digital database and exercise on them. The analytical program can be downloaded here.
