The fourth iteration of the SYNTHESYS projects started on February 1st 2019, including many DiSSCo partners. One key component of the projects was the provision of transnational access to natural history collections. This has not changed with the new project, SYNTHESYS+. Along with the start of the project the first SYNTHESYS transnational access call was launched as well on 1 February 2019.
The call will provide funded researcher access to collections, libraries and facilities for state-of-the-art microscopy, physical, chemical & molecular analysis. The grants include both bench fees and contribution to travel and subsistence costs.
Deadline for applications for the SYNTHESYS transnational access call is 12 April 2019, 17:00 UK time and awarded visits must take place within 12 months of results being announced. Interested researchers can apply to 21 institutions via 13 national Taxonomic Access Facilities (TAFs, see poster below for complete list). For further information and any queries please visit the refurbished website www.synthesis.info.

We invite every interested researcher to apply for this great opportunity, to study natural history at one of the project partners’ collections.
However, SYNTHESYS+ does not stop at providing physical access to natural history collections. In fact, SYNTHESYS+ will add a virtual access programme. These calls will launch in February 2020 and February 2021.
